KREASI Nias Selatan organized a Master Trainer Catch-Up Club training in Telukdalam on 19-21 August. This event was specifically designed to train teachers to become facilitators focused on improving the literacy and numeracy skills of students who are still falling behind.
The training aimed primarily to build the capacity of educators as master trainers who will cascade their knowledge and skills to KREASI’s target schools. This way, efforts to improve education quality can spread effectively and comprehensively. Participants were trained to master a variety of teaching techniques, particularly the “learning through play” method, which is designed to make the learning process more engaging and enjoyable for students.

The training featured two main speakers: Dwi Indah from the Mojokerto Education Office, Jawa Timur, and Mitranikasih Laia from Nias Raya University. On the first day, the materials covered included the principles of the Catch-Up Club, literacy assessment, and social-emotional learning for literacy and numeracy. Meanwhile, the second and third days focused on practical learning.
Dwi Indah facilitated practice sessions on playing with letters, words, and sentences, while Mitranikasih Laia led sessions on playing with numbers, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and basic division.
Throughout the training, participants demonstrated high enthusiasm and played an active role. They were divided into groups to practice using various creative approaches, allowing each participant to gain a deep understanding of every step taught.
