KREASI Halmahera Utara Activates PATBM Team

KREASI Halmahera Utara held an activity to activate Tim Perlindungan Anak Terpadu Berbasis Masyarakat (PATBM/Community-Based Child Protection Team) Village-Level on Tuesday (19/08/2025).

The event was attended by officials from the Halmahera Utara Women’s Empowerment, Child Protection, and Family Planning Office (DP3AKB), facilitators from the Ternate Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection Office (DP3A), village heads, posyandu cadres, several teachers from KREASI-assisted schools, as well as members of the Hibualamo Children’s Forum (FALO).

Head of Women’s Empowerment and Fulfillment of Women’s Rights Division at DP3AKB Halmahera Utara, Nortje D. Gardjalay, explained that PATBM serves as the community’s frontline to prevent and address child-related issues, including exploitation, neglect, and discrimination.

“We hope to establish strong activation teams starting at the village level, to create safe and child-friendly environments,” Nortje said.

Program Manager of KREASI Halmahera Utara, Rany Monika Purba emphasized that the activity is part of the program’s support for the local government in realizing a Child-Friendly District.

“This meeting is the beginning of the mentoring process. PATBM teams are expected to run programs that ensure children’s rights are fulfilled, including support for literacy and numeracy,” she said.

Head of Wari Village, Yufianus Maliong, noted that the initiative is highly relevant to village life.

“Some child-related efforts have actually been carried out, but they have not been structured. We hope that with the KREASI Program, mentoring can be more intensive at the village level,” he said.

A primary school teacher, Nafirah, stated that the activity expanded her understanding of preventing violence against children both at school and in the community.

“We were also guided on how to interact with children with special needs or disabilities. Hopefully, activities like this can be held more frequently,” she added.

Through the activation of village-level PATBM teams, KREASI Halmahera Utara hopes to build stronger protection networks so that every child in this district can grow up in a safe, healthy, and supportive environment.
