KREASI Morotai Partners with FKIP Unipas to Support Literacy and Numeracy Clubs in Schools

KREASI Morotai, implemented by the Stimulant Institute, has established a collaboration with the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) of Universitas Pasifik (Unipas) to support the implementation of Literacy and Numeracy Clubs (Catch Up Club). This partnership involves nine Unipas pre-service teachers who serve as facilitators in literacy and numeracy clubs across 13 schools supported by KREASI Morotai.

Before conducting mentoring activities in schools, the university students participated in a training session on 15–16 January 2026 to equip them with foundational skills to support literacy and numeracy activities. The involvement of pre-service teachers aims to strengthen the capacity of future educators in addressing students who face difficulties in understanding lessons. During the training, the students were introduced to engaging teaching methods and the use of various learning media to support reading and numeracy development.

One of the participating students, Ramdani, shared that the mentoring experience provided him with valuable new insights, particularly in classroom management.

“A new experience for me was seeing how a teacher, in this case a literacy and numeracy club mentor, can effectively manage the class. It was very interesting because I previously struggled with this, and through the mentoring process, I received a lot of support from the mentor in managing students,” said Ramdani.

Through this mentoring initiative, KREASI Morotai seeks to ensure the sustainability of literacy and numeracy clubs in target schools, so that a strong culture of literacy and numeracy can continue to grow and develop in Pulau Morotai Regency.
