A total of 248 members of the school community at a state madrasah ibtidaiyah (MIN) in Ketapang District gathered enthusiastically to take part in the activity “Practical Implementation of Climate Change Education.” The event, initiated by KREASI Ketapang and implemented by the Majelis Dikdasmen and PNF PP Muhammadiyah, aimed to instill environmental awareness from an early age using the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) approach.
In her remarks, the Principal of the Madrasah, Rita Yulinda, emphasized that the responsibility to protect the environment must begin with oneself, especially in facing the challenges of extreme weather and tidal flooding that frequently affect the coastal areas of Ketapang.
The lively event featured a series of activities, including group exercise sessions, tree-planting practices, and an interactive educational session on disaster resilience delivered by Muhammad Bedri from the Gunung Palung National Park Office.
Beyond theory, students were also encouraged to commit to reducing plastic waste by bringing their own reusable water bottles (tumblers) and adopting energy-saving habits within the madrasah environment. Santoso Setio, KREASI Ketapang Program Coordinator, expressed hope that through this good practice, the madrasah can become an inspiring learning center that nurtures a climate-aware generation ready to become agents of change in the future.
