Save the Children and the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 27 January 2026 at the Kemendikdasmen Office in Jakarta. This agreement strengthens collaboration in supporting the KREASI Program and the implementation of Ministerial Regulation of Primary and Secondary Education (Permendikdasmen) Number 6 of 2026 on a Safe and Comfortable School Culture.
Permendikdasmen Number 6 of 2026 affirms the government’s commitment to ensuring that schools function as a “second home” for children. Through this regulation, protection in schools is defined more comprehensively. It not only covers physical aspects, but also psychological and sociocultural well-being, the fulfilment of spiritual needs, as well as civility and safety in digital spaces.
Through this cooperation, Kemendikdasmen and Save the Children also strengthen the implementation of policies and programs that focus on the well-being, protection, and holistic development of learners in the school environment. These efforts are realized through the KREASI Program (Kolaborasi untuk Edukasi Anak Indonesia) as a platform for collaborative implementation in the field. Through this collaboration, stronger alignment is expected between policy and practice on the ground, as a foundation for a more inclusive and child-centered education system.
The MoU was signed by Save the Children Indonesia Chief Executive Officer, Dessy Kurwiany Ukar and Kemendikdasmen Secretary General, Suharti, witnessed directly by Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Abdul Mu’ti and Save the Children UK Chief Executive Officer Moazzam Malik.
