HAN in Morotai Carries the Theme: End Violence, Ensure Everyone Has a Birth Certificate

In commemoration of National Children’s Day (HAN) 2025, KREASI Morotai held a child protection campaign with the theme “Support the Morotai Island Regional Children’s Forum (FAD) for the Sustainability of Child-Friendly Governance.” The event was organized in collaboration with the Morotai Regency Government and attended by Vice Regent of Morotai, Rio Pawane.

This event served as an important moment to highlight various challenges still faced by children in Morotai—from the uneven ownership of birth certificates to cases of violence in school environments. Without legal identity documents, children are at risk of being excluded from public services.

Through this campaign, KREASI Morotai invited all levels of society to take an active role in fully fulfilling children’s rights, ensuring access to legal identity, decent education, and a safe environment for them to grow and develop.

The campaign also provided a platform for children to speak up, address bullying issues, and express their hopes through poetry, drama, and dance performances.

In addition, the FAD was given a special opportunity to engage in direct dialogue with the local government to present their issues and aspirations. Other children who were not part of the FAD could still express their wishes through a “tree of hope,” where they wrote their desires to learn and excel in a safe, violence-free environment. The event also featured learning-through-play spaces at various booths, making the campaign both enjoyable and educational.

The campaign received strong support from Vice Regent Rio Christian Pawane, who said:

“I invite all stakeholders to commit and take concrete roles in strengthening child protection in Morotai.”

During the event, KREASI Morotai encouraged the local ecosystem and KPAI Commissioners in attendance to demonstrate their commitment to child protection and the fulfillment of children’s rights through an engaging symbolic activity—a collective handprint action. This became a form of collective commitment between the local ecosystem and KPAI to prevent violence and create a safer Morotai for children.

The campaign concluded with a call to maintain the continuity of child protection as a shared responsibility. Carrying the phrase “Tong Baku Jaga” (We Protect Each Other), the campaign reminded everyone that child protection is the responsibility of the state and all elements of society.
