Jakarta, February 21, 2025 – A spirit of enthusiasm filled the air from the very first day of the KREASI Program Workshop, held from February 17 to 21, 2025, at the Aloft Hotel TB Simatupang. Over five days, 31 participants from various local implementing partners—including Article 33, Majelis Dikdasmen PNF PP Muhammadiyah, LP Maarif NU, Yayasan Guru Belajar, Stimulant Institute, Ikatan Guru Indonesia, and Wahana Visi Indonesia—gathered with a shared goal: strengthening their understanding and strategies for implementing the KREASI program in their respective regions.
The event was officially opened on Monday by Mr. Rosianto Hamid, Acting Chief of Party of KREASI, whose warm remarks underscored the importance of collaboration in improving literacy, numeracy, and character development among Indonesian children. The presence of representatives from Save the Children Australia further energized the participants, who came from various areas where the program is being implemented: Sumatera Utara, Lampung, Kalimantan Barat, and Maluku Utara, covering 8 districts fromN Nias Utara to Kepulauan Morotai.
The first two days were packed with sessions that broadened participants’ perspectives on improving education quality, particularly in literacy, numeracy, character education, and child protection. They were guided through strategies for strengthening local education ecosystems, drafting Terms of Reference (ToR) through hands-on simulations, and deepening their understanding of monitoring and evaluation frameworks. Additionally, discussions on meaningful child participation, Child Protection, GEDSI (Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion), and Climate Change provided participants with new insights into the importance of inclusive and sustainable approaches in program implementation.
Amidst the packed schedule, the atmosphere remained dynamic with interactive discussions and the sharing of experiences from different regions. Participants also received training on media and communication, advocacy, and campaign strategies, equipping them with essential tools to ensure the KREASI program reaches more stakeholders and creates a broader impact.
On the third day, participants were divided into two groups based on their primary focus areas: Education and Child Protection, as well as GEDSI. Within these groups, they explored practical modules and approaches to be applied in the field. Discussions grew lively as participants shared challenges faced in their respective regions and worked together to find solutions to enhance program effectiveness. In the education group, participants studied practical materials related to key topics and learning media for literacy, numeracy, and educational leadership. Meanwhile, the child protection group focused on regulations from the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education and the Ministry of Religious Affairs regarding the prevention and handling of violence in educational settings, which form the foundation of child protection under the KREASI program. Topics included Activating Violence Prevention and Response Teams, Safe Families, Safe Schools, Positive Parenting and Discipline, and Strengthening Community-Based Integrated Child Protection.
As the workshop drew to a close, participants left not only with new materials and strategies but also with renewed energy and inspiration to continue contributing to positive change for Indonesian children’s education. With stronger networks and deeper understanding, they are now ready to implement the KREASI program with greater confidence and create tangible impacts in their respective regions.
