KREASI Diagnostic Report:
Situation Analysis on Foundational Skills, GEDSI, Climate Change Education and Child Protection in Early Childhood and Basic Education Sectors
This report presents the findings of a situational analysis conducted across eight districts in Indonesia, focusing on foundational skills in literacy, numeracy, and character education, alongside the integration of gender equality, disability, and social inclusion (GEDSI), as well as climate change education. The study was funded through the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) Program Development Grant (PDG), which supported the development of the KREASI program funded by the GPE Multiplier Grant. The analysis was informed by field visits and workshops conducted in Sumatera Utara province (Nias Utara and Nias Selatan districts), Lampung province (Tanggamus and Pesisir Barat districts), Kalimantan Barat province (Ketapang and Kayong Utara districts), and Maluku Utara province (Halmahera Utara and Kepulauan Morotai districts). These activities involved key education stakeholders and ensured a comprehensive and participatory approach.
The report examines curriculum and assessment, teaching practices, educational leadership, and child protection within the framework of Indonesia’s Merdeka Belajar policy. It highlights promising practices, including the adoption of inclusive curricula, professional learning communities, and climate awareness initiatives, while identifying persistent challenges such as gaps in teacher professional development, resource limitations, and insufficient understanding of the education transformation.
Disclaimer: The findings and recommendations outlined in this report may not fully align with the current administration’s priorities.
