Save the Children Indonesia conducted a courtesy visit to the Nahdlatul Ulama Educational Institution (LP Ma’arif NU) as part of its efforts to strengthen a strategic partnership aimed at improving the quality of education for children through the KREASI Program.
The meeting, held in Jakarta on 14 July 2026, was received by LP Ma’arif NU Chair Muhammad Ali Ramdhani and accompanied by LP Ma’arif NU Secretary Harianto Oghie. The Save the Children Indonesia delegation was led by Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dessy Kurwiany Ukar, together with Chair of the Board of Trustees Daniel Rembeth, Senior Director of Advocacy, Campaign, and Government Relations Tata Sudrajat, and KREASI Chief of Party Alifah Sri Lestari.
During the meeting, Dessy expressed her appreciation for the partnership that has been established between Save the Children Indonesia and LP Ma’arif NU. She noted that the collaboration through the KREASI Program has made a positive contribution to improving literacy and numeracy outcomes for Indonesian children, particularly in Tanggamus District, Lampung.
The KREASI Program is one of Save the Children Indonesia’s initiatives to strengthen the education ecosystem through partnerships with local organizations. To date, the program has partnered with seven local institutions, including LP Ma’arif NU, which serves as the implementing partner in Tanggamus District.
Dessy also expressed her hope that the partnership, which has delivered positive results, can continue and be further strengthened in the coming years. According to her, collaboration with local organizations is an important part of Save the Children Indonesia’s localization strategy, through which local institutions can grow and develop alongside Save the Children Indonesia to advance the well-being of Indonesian children.
Meanwhile, Muhammad Ali Ramdhani reaffirmed his support for the implementation of the KREASI Program and encouraged its expansion to other regions so that more children can benefit from the initiative.
In addition to discussing opportunities for expanding the KREASI Program, the meeting also served as a platform to explore broader cooperation in the education sector. Save the Children Indonesia shared that it is currently developing a strategic partnership with the Ministry of Religious Affairs to support the implementation of other programs focused on strengthening education for children in madrasahs and pesantren.
