Save the Children Indonesia Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Dessy Kurwiany Ukar, met with the Chair of the Muhammadiyah Central Board (PP Muhammadiyah), Haedar Nashir, in Yogyakarta on 7 July 2026. The meeting aimed to further strengthen collaboration, particularly through the KREASI Program.
During the meeting, Dessy expressed her appreciation for the strong partnership that has been built over the years. She also introduced Save the Children Indonesia and its programs, including the implementation of KREASI.
Over the past two years, Save the Children Indonesia has partnered with the Primary and Secondary Education and Non-Formal Education Council (Majelis Dikdasmen & PNF) of PP Muhammadiyah to implement the KREASI Program in Ketapang District and North Kayong District, West Kalimantan. The partnership has delivered positive results. In its first year, the program successfully achieved 100% of its activity targets and is currently entering its second year of implementation.
Meanwhile, Haedar emphasized that social movements aimed at improving community welfare, particularly for children, are among the most important priorities. Therefore, commitment and support from various stakeholders are essential and highly relevant to the goals pursued through the partnership between PP Muhammadiyah and Save the Children.
Dessy added that strategic partnerships with local and national institutions are an important part of the localization strategy, through which local organizations can grow alongside Save the Children Indonesia in advancing the well-being of Indonesian children.
Looking ahead, Save the Children hopes to continue expanding its strategic partnership with Muhammadiyah through other programs, building on their shared experience in advancing education for Indonesia’s children.
Also present at the meeting were Save the Children Indonesia Chief Operating Officer, Agni Kristia Pratama, and KREASI Program Chief of Party, Alifah Sri Lestari. Representing Muhammadiyah were PP Muhammadiyah Secretary M. Sayuti, along with members of the Majelis Dikdasmen & PNF PP Muhammadiyah, including Chair Didik Suhardi, Vice Chair IV Gufron Amirullah, and member Ananto Kusuma Seta.
