The Program of KREASI brought one of the teachers who is also an early childhood education (PAUD) principal from Pulau Morotai District, Maluku Utara, to the World Children’s Day Festival in Jakarta on 20 November 2025.
The event, organized by Save the Children together with the Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection of the Republic of Indonesia, featured various discussions on child protection, including education-related issues.
In the education-focused discussion, Syawiyah, a teacher and PAUD principal from Morotai, shared best practices in school management and teaching in her school, which is one of KREASI’s intervention sites.
Syawiyah talked about the challenges she had faced, including teaching practices that had not fully allowed children to express themselves freely.
The presence of KREASI in Morotai since early 2025 has provided new methods and perspectives for Syawiyah in her teaching. Classrooms have become livelier, children say they are happier, and they now have more freedom to express themselves.
In addition, as a principal, Syawiyah has received capacity strengthening from KREASI in several aspects of education management, including GEDSI (gender equality, disability, and social inclusion) and climate change issues, which she is gradually introducing to the children.
Syawiyah is one of many teachers whose capacities have been strengthened by KREASI in eight districts.
The World Children’s Day Festival also featured other discussion sessions, including those on child-friendly digital spaces and good practices from various Save the Children programs in other regions.
KREASI also set up an exhibition booth during the event. Visitors expressed curiosity about the Program of KREASI, and some mentioned their interest in contributing directly to improving the quality of children’s education in Indonesia.
