21 People Trained as GEDSI Champion in Pesisir Barat

KREASI Pesisir Barat held a district-level workshop on strengthening capacity on GEDSI issues in education on 21 October 2025. The activity was conducted to encourage the presence of resources or experts who understand cross-cutting issues so they can design solutions that respond to local needs.

A total of 21 participants from various sectors were trained using a training-of-trainers approach over two days. Through this approach, they are expected to become drivers of cross-cutting issues within the education ecosystem in Pesisir Barat, provide direct support through teacher working groups (Kelompok Kerja Guru/KKG), and help schools integrate cross-cutting issues into day-to-day management and teaching practices.

One of the training participants shared, “Knowledge about GEDSI is important in education so that students can feel safe, protected, and able to fully enjoy their rights.”

As a follow-up step, these local experts who have strengthened their capacity will help ensure GEDSI implementation strategies are truly applied in schools through KKG mentoring.

In these meetings, teachers will share good practices, discuss challenges, and collectively search for solutions to GEDSI-related barriers in education settings.

In addition, they will also review how far teachers have tried GEDSI-friendly learning strategies, how schools follow up on cases of children facing barriers, and what forms of support are needed from the district level.

These 21 local experts can become key drivers of change toward a more inclusive and equitable education ecosystem for children in Pesisir Barat. This is certainly not an easy task. Cross-sector collaboration and an openness to new issues are crucial to drive education transformation.
