PAUD–SD Transition: Teachers in Pesisir Barat Trained to Create Child-Friendly Learning

A total of 30 early-grade teachers from PAUD/TK and SD/MI participated in the Strengthening PAUD–SD Teachers Training on the Principles of a Smooth Transition, held at MIN 1 Krui. This training was designed by the PAUD–SD Transition Working Group (Pokja Transisi PAUD–SD) as part of the Education Ecosystem initiative supported by KREASI Pesisir Barat. It aimed to equip teachers with creative and child-friendly learning strategies, while also strengthening collaboration across educational levels so children can enter elementary school with confidence and joy.

The Head of the Basic Education Section at the Pesisir Barat Education and Culture Office expressed appreciation: “We really value this activity. Hopefully it brings innovation and renewed spirit for teachers in Pesisir Barat. Teachers are the key to creating a memorable first experience for children when entering elementary school,” he said.

Facilitator Hilda Nadia emphasized the importance of giving children space to grow. “Every child has their own dreams and desires. A teacher’s job is to guide, not to limit. Learning should provide opportunities for children to grow according to their potential,” she explained.

In this training, participants not only received material but also actively engaged in discussions, practiced creating PAUD–SD transition lesson plans (RPP), and tried out various creative learning methods and ice-breaking activities.

One participant shared the benefits she experienced: “This training is very useful. I feel more confident in guiding children so they’re not afraid to enter elementary school. The lesson plan practice also allows us to apply it directly in the classroom,” she said.

The concrete result of the training was the development of inclusive and child-friendly transition lesson plans by all participants. These plans are expected to serve as a reference for creating joyful learning experiences in their respective schools.

This activity is part of the initiative of the PAUD–SD Transition Working Group supported by KREASI, aimed at strengthening a child-friendly, quality education ecosystem that supports children’s holistic development.
