KREASI Halmahera Utara, implemented by Wahana Visi Indonesia, organized a Workshop on the Development of Contextual Literacy and Numeracy Games for partner schools in Kabupaten Halmahera Utara on Friday, 26 September 2025.
The workshop featured facilitators from APE GAMELAB, Adhicipta and M. Charish, and was attended by representatives from the Halmahera Utara Education and Culture Office as well as teachers from partner schools.
In his opening remarks, the Secretary of the Education and Culture Office, Anthone J. Tutupary, expressed his appreciation for the event.
“This workshop is a strategic step in enriching literacy and numeracy teaching methods that are rooted in local context. This approach enables teachers to link lesson materials with the surrounding environment and local culture. We thank WVI and KREASI for bringing in such competent and inspiring resource persons,” he said.
Rany Monika Purba, Program Manager of KREASI Halmahera Utara, added that the event was designed to foster inclusive learning innovations.
“This workshop provides a platform for educators to design board games that support literacy and numeracy learning. These games are expected to reach all children, especially students with disabilities. Over the two-day session, we hope to see many creative ideas emerge that can be developed into unique learning products for Halmahera Utara,” she explained.
One participant, Nurdiana, a madrasah ibtidaiyah teacher, shared her enthusiasm about the learning approach introduced.
“I’m truly inspired by the game-based approach. Children will find it easier to understand the material when it’s delivered in a fun way that connects with their everyday lives,” she said.
The activity is expected to strengthen teachers’ capacity to create learning experiences that are relevant, engaging, and responsive to the educational needs of all children in Halmahera Utara, without exception.
