KREASI Holds Capacity Building for ECD and MEAL for Local Implementing Partners

The Program of KREASI or Kolaborasi untuk Edukasi Anak Indonesia (Collaboration for the Educations of Indonesia Children) is being implemented nationally by Save the Children, held a Capacity Building activity on 25-29 August in Jakarta Selatan. The event was attended by representatives from KREASI’s Local Implementing Partners (MPL) from eight districts, focusing on Early Childhood Development (ECD) and Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL).

Participants consisted of ECD Officers and MEAL Officers from Nias Utara, Nias Selatan, Pesisir Barat, Tanggamus, Ketapang, Kayong Utara, Halmahera Utara, and Pulau Morotai. In addition, support teams from the provincial and national levels were also involved in facilitating the sessions.

The first day included a program progress report, an introduction to early childhood education, and discussions on advocacy and campaign strategies. The session also highlighted the integration of GEDSI (Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion) and climate change issues in education.

In the MEAL-focused sessions, participants learned about program performance indicators, the use of monitoring tools, and evidence-based research strategies. Meanwhile, the ECD sessions covered literacy, numeracy, and deep learning approaches for early childhood education.

The learning methods were designed to be interactive through simulations, group discussions, and hands-on practice. For instance, ECD participants practiced early literacy and numeracy activities, while MEAL participants used tools such as the School Monitoring Checklist and District Assessment Tools.

The event recorded 42 participants on the first day, with attendance ranging from 32 to 35 on the following days. The diverse backgrounds of the participants provided opportunities to exchange experiences and good practices from each district.

Group discussions also produced follow-up plans to be applied at the district level. These plans included strengthening PAUD services, improving data quality, and integrating cross-sectoral issues into education.

This event was part of the KREASI program’s series of activities aimed at strengthening the capacity of partners in eight target districts, with the goal of improving the quality of early childhood education services in Indonesia.
