KREASI Nias Selatan Enhances Teachers’ Understanding and Skills through KKG Numeracy IHT

A series of In-House Trainings (IHT) for the Teacher Working Group (KKG) on Numeracy was held simultaneously across seven sub-districts in Nias Selatan.

KREASI Nias Selatan was deployed across the seven sub-districts: Luahagundre, Maniamolo, Fanayama, Mazino, Toma, Telukdalam, and Onolalu. In implementation, the KREASI team collaborated with target schools in each sub-district. This approach ensured that more teacher representatives could actively participate in the training, which took place from 28–29 July.

The primary goal of this intensive training was to strengthen teachers’ understanding and skills in teaching numeracy, a fundamental component in developing students’ logical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

The training sessions in each subdistrict were led by facilitators—trainers who had previously been trained in the master trainer numeracy training—ensuring the quality and depth of the material delivered. Throughout the training, the atmosphere was very active and interactive. The material was presented clearly and concisely, making it easy for all participants to understand. The sessions were also interspersed with ice-breaking activities that effectively maintained participants’ energy and focus. There was extensive discussion and experience-sharing among participants regarding the challenges and successes related to numeracy in their respective schools, reflecting high enthusiasm.

One of the topics that drew the most attention from all participants was the discussion on learning media. Teachers showed great interest in using media that can help children more easily understand numeracy concepts. This indicated that educators in Nias Selatan have a forward-looking vision to create more engaging and innovative teaching methods.

Overall, the In-House Training for the Numeracy Teacher Working Group in seven subdistricts ran well and provided many new insights for teachers. Participant enthusiasm was especially visible during the sharing of experiences and discussions on strategies for using innovative learning media. KREASI Nias Selatan, together with all related parties, is committed to continuing to support teachers’ capacity building in order to realize a smart and competent future generation.
