5,000 Storybooks Distributed to Strengthen Literacy and Numeracy in Pesisir Barat, Lampung

KREASI has distributed 5,000 folklore storybooks and child-friendly non-textbooks to 31 partner schools in Pesisir Barat District, Lampung Province.

This distribution was facilitated by Save the Children in collaboration with implementing partner Yayasan Guru Belajar (YGB). The books were symbolically handed over by Dessy Kurwiany Ukar, CEO of Save the Children, as a form of support for strengthening child literacy and numeracy efforts in coastal areas.

The distributed books received reprint approval from the Lampung Language Office and the Book Center of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikdasmen). One of the books distributed is titled “Ikut Ibu Nutu Bumbu” (Following Mother Grinding Spices), which highlights the local tradition of “Nutu Bumbu” as a way to introduce regional culture to students.

Book distribution began on 1 May 2025, targeting primary schools that are part of the KREASI Program. These books are intended to be used in various learning spaces such as classrooms, libraries, reading corners, and also at home. This activity is part of KREASI’s effort to expand children’s access to contextual learning materials, especially in areas with limited infrastructure and teaching personnel, such as Pesisir Barat.
