KREASI Hold Education FGD, Launch Sudut Literasi Anak Program in Tanggamus

The KREASI Program organized a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) and workshop titled Formulation of Policy Recommendations and Development of a Policy Brief on Curriculum and Assessment, and Dissemination to Education Policymakers of Tanggamus Regency. Held at the Bapperida Hall of Tanggamus Regency on Wednesday (21/1/2026), the event served as a strategic platform to align policies between central and local governments, as well as international development partners.

One of the key highlights of the workshop was the launch of a flagship knowledge product called Sudut Literasi Anak (Sultan), an innovative in-class reading corner model designed to bring books closer to students in a more engaging and interactive environment. Sundusiah, Chair of LP Ma’arif PCNU Tanggamus, emphasized that innovations such as Sultan are born out of real needs in the field.

She noted that active involvement from regional administrators is essential to ensure that education policies are effectively implemented at the school level. “The presence of Sultan is a tactical response to ensure that the curriculum does not remain merely an administrative document, but truly makes an impact in classrooms through a living culture of reading every day. We at LP Ma’arif NU Tanggamus are committed to overseeing its replication for the future of Tanggamus’ children,” she stated.

According to her, Sultan is not simply about providing bookshelves. It represents a literacy management system that includes guidelines for utilizing reading materials, foundational literacy teaching methods, and active student involvement in managing their own reading corners. The forum agreed that this knowledge product will serve as a standard to be replicated in schools throughout Tanggamus Regency.

Meanwhile, Suardi, Director of the KREASI Program at LP Ma’arif PBNU, emphasized that the resulting policy brief must be translated creatively so it can be easily understood and implemented by educators at the grassroots level. “This activity is driven by the need to strengthen evidence-based curriculum policies,” he explained.

He added that data on literacy and numeracy achievement from the National Assessment indicate existing gaps that require targeted policy responses, including the integration of cross-sectoral issues such as Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) and climate change.

Head of Bapperida Tanggamus, Doni Sengaji Berisang, welcomed the KREASI LP Ma’arif NU team and expressed his commitment to working together to strengthen basic education. “We hope this discussion produces concrete and applicable recommendations, such as the Sultan Program, which directly impacts the quality of students. Every idea is valuable for the future of our nation’s generation,” he said.

The event was attended by representatives from the Education Office, the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Bapperida, and other education stakeholders. The workshop outcomes and agreement on the replication of the Sultan Program will soon be disseminated as an official reference for education implementation in Tanggamus Regency.
