KREASI Morotai and PGRI Celebrate National Teachers’ Day 2025

To commemorate National Teachers’ Day 2025, KREASI Morotai collaborated with the Indonesian Teachers Association (PGRI) Morotai on Tuesday, 25 November 2025. The activity was implemented by Stimulant Institute as part of the KREASI Program. The celebration formed part of KREASI’s advocacy efforts to encourage broader appreciation for teachers. This advocacy is directed toward the Pulau Morotai District Government.

The National Teachers’ Day celebration took place at the Pulau Morotai Regent’s Office Hall. A total of 147 teachers and school principals from KREASI-supported schools and other schools participated. The event was attended by various education stakeholders in Morotai, including the Assistant for General Administration and Public Relations (Assistant II) and Commission III of the Regional House of Representatives (DPRD). Also present were the Head of the Education Office and representatives from the Ministry of Religious Affairs. Representatives from the Library Office and Universitas Pasifik also attended. Their presence demonstrated collective support for improving the quality of education in Morotai.

The event was officially opened by Marwan Sidasi, Assistant II for General Administration and Public Relations. In his remarks, he emphasized the strategic role of teachers in shaping the future of education. “I believe that teaching is not merely a profession, but a calling. Through the hands and hearts of teachers, the future of the nation is woven. Therefore, today’s talk show is an important moment for all of us to reflect, share experiences, and reaffirm our commitment as educators. The presence of teacher and principal representatives from six sub-districts is proof that together we want to build a more competitive and high-quality future for education in Morotai,” he said.

For National Teachers’ Day 2025, the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education adopted the theme “Great Teachers, Strong Indonesia.” In Morotai, this spirit was reflected through learning innovations from KREASI-supported schools. Teachers presented their classroom experiences and learning approaches that have been implemented in practice. These initiatives are expected to inspire other schools to continue innovating.

Survey results from Stimulant Institute further enriched the discussion during the event. All respondents viewed National Teachers’ Day as a moment to reflect on the role and contributions of educators. Ninety-five percent of the 115 respondents stated that National Teachers’ Day is not merely ceremonial. They see it as an opportunity to increase motivation, innovation, and professional development. Teachers also emphasized the importance of welfare improvement and stronger professional advocacy. They expressed hope that PGRI would continue organizing activities to strengthen teacher capacity in Morotai.

The survey findings were discussed further during a talk show session with stakeholders. Responding to the issue of teacher welfare, Mauludin Wahab, Head of the Pulau Morotai Education Office, stated that the local government continues to strengthen its support. “We have worked to provide teacher certification allowances as part of efforts to improve welfare,” he explained. He added that various regional allowances have also been regulated within the strategic plan.

Through this National Teachers’ Day celebration, KREASI reaffirmed its commitment to improving the quality of education. KREASI’s focus includes strengthening literacy, numeracy, and character education. These efforts are carried out through capacity building for teachers in supported schools. The good practices shared during the event are expected to continue and expand their impact. The celebration underscored that improving education quality is a shared responsibility. National Teachers’ Day also serves as a meaningful space for genuine appreciation of teachers in Morotai.
