The Institutionalization and Strengthening of Internal Learning Communities (Komunitas Belajar/Kombel) and Cluster-Based Learning Communities for Primary and Secondary Schools across Halmahera Utara was held at Education and Culture Office on 13 August 2026. The activity was supported by the KREASI Program in Halmahera Utara.
The event was attended by representatives of learning community management teams from 35 primary schools and 19 junior secondary schools, bringing together 59 teachers. The session was facilitated by Wilsa Dieastuty Salim from the Maluku Utara Office for Teachers and Education Personnel (KGTK), who serves as Head of the Teacher and Education Personnel Competency Development Team.
In her remarks, KREASI Project Manager Rany Monika Purba highlighted that Learning Communities serve as an important platform for collaboration and knowledge sharing. KREASI supports these communities because they have the potential to expand the impact of education quality improvement beyond the program’s 44 partner primary schools. Through active learning communities at the sub-district level, the knowledge, good practices, and learning resources introduced by KREASI can reach schools that are not directly supported by the program.
KREASI also promotes a culture of sharing among teachers so that knowledge gained through training does not remain exclusive to individual participants. Instead, teachers are encouraged to take on facilitator roles for their peers, helping disseminate new knowledge and practices. Through this collaborative approach, KREASI and the District Education and Culture Office aim to contribute to improving the quality of education throughout Halmahera Utara.
In her opening remarks, Head of the Halmahera Utara Education and Culture Office, Hertje Manuel, emphasized that a teacher’s success should not be measured solely by improvements in students’ academic knowledge, but also by their character development. She noted that Learning Communities are intended to provide a platform where teachers can exchange experiences, creativity, challenges, and promising practices in teaching and learning, while strengthening collaboration among schools to improve educational quality.
She further explained that the academic achievements of both teachers and students, including results from the Academic Competency Test (TKA), reflect the collective performance of school principals, education personnel, and the wider school community. Through initiatives such as this, all stakeholders are encouraged to continuously strengthen their capacities so that they can adapt to rapid technological advancements and digital transformation, enabling them to contribute more effectively to educating future generations.
Through the institutionalization and strengthening of Learning Communities, teachers are expected to make full use of Kombel as a space for sharing knowledge, experiences, challenges, and innovative teaching practices, fostering continuous professional growth and improving learning outcomes across schools in Halmahera Utara.
