KREASI Morotai, implemented by the Stimulant Institute in collaboration with Universitas Pasifik (Unipas), is conducting joint monitoring through data-based research. This activity aims to strengthen school principals’ and teachers’ understanding of how to use Education Report (Rapor Pendidikan) data as the basis for learning planning and data-driven school program planning.
The support provided focuses not only on strengthening students’ literacy and numeracy skills, but also on improving teachers’ pedagogical literacy, particularly in reflecting on and documenting their teaching practices. One form of this assistance is through direct visits to KREASI-supported schools in Pulau Morotai District.
The Dean of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) at Unipas, Fahmi, began providing support through school visits on 22 January 2026. This type of mentoring activity is the first of its kind to be carried out in Pulau Morotai District. Based on his experience in the field, Fahmi found that teachers’ ability to write academic work, especially in the form of journal articles, is rarely practiced anymore, even though it is an important part of strengthening teachers’ professional literacy.
“In the mentoring process, I found that many teachers have started to forget the methods of writing academic papers. During the sessions, teachers even expressed their gratitude because they felt greatly helped,” said Fahmi.
He added that the teachers and principals involved felt significant benefits, especially in strengthening their ability to construct narratives for academic writing. “They feel more confident because they are guided to write step by step, starting from building a narrative based on their teaching practices and the data they have,” he explained.
Fahmi hopes that this mentoring activity can continue to be developed in a sustainable way. According to him, such support not only contributes to strengthening teachers’ pedagogical competence, but also enhances school principals’ managerial capacity in managing school literacy programs, particularly in frontier, outermost, and disadvantaged (3T) regions.
Through systematic and context-based mentoring, teachers and school principals are expected to be able to develop more innovative and reflective literacy practices, and to deliver tangible impact on strengthening a culture of literacy and improving the quality of learning in schools.
