To provide more meaningful and inclusive learning experiences for children, the KREASI Program in Pesisir Barat organized the event “Sakai Sambayan: Teachers Create, Cultivate Good Practices, and Harvest Inspiration” on 8 November 2025.
The event served as a platform for sharing and celebrating the good practices of four KREASI partner school principals. The theme Sakai Sambayan was chosen as it reflects the values of mutual cooperation, togetherness, and collective support rooted in the Saibatin Lampung tradition. These values also embody the spirit of the KREASI Program in strengthening educators and the education ecosystem in Pesisir Barat District.
The atmosphere of the event was further enriched by the presence of the Vice Regent of Pesisir Barat, Irawan Topani, accompanied by the First Deputy Chair of TPPK Pesisir Barat, Dea Derika Topani. Also in attendance were Save the Children Indonesia’s Humanitarian and Impact Innovation Director, Fadli Usman; Chief of Party of KREASI, Alifah Lestari; and KREASI Regional Manager for Sumatra, R. Manmagilan. Their presence demonstrated strong support for schools’ efforts to lead change within their respective communities.
Before entering the dissemination stage, the four principals participated in a series of capacity-strengthening activities and reflective sessions on their change stories. These processes resulted in good practices that reflect the diversity of learning innovations in Pesisir Barat.
Nora Emyana from the early childhood education level developed contextual literacy and numeracy teaching materials that are sensitive to climate change issues. Eka Budi Susanti from the primary school level designed a new School-Based Curriculum that emphasizes deep learning and responsiveness to climate challenges. Wahyudi from the primary school level established a mini library and implemented interactive teaching methods to strengthen literacy and numeracy. Meanwhile, Rusmidawati from the primary school level integrated climate change issues into learning activities through consistent and change-oriented leadership.
Irawan had the opportunity to visit the exhibition showcasing the principals’ work. In his remarks, he expressed his appreciation, stating, “This activity is a very positive platform for strengthening networks among education institutions, in order to foster a culture of collaboration, sharing, and learning together.”
He also reaffirmed the commitment of the local government. “The Pesisir Barat Regional Government welcomes the initiative of Yayasan Guru Belajar and the KREASI Program team for creating an inspiring space for educators to share good teaching practices. This is a tangible expression of the Sakai Sambayan spirit, the spirit of mutual cooperation that defines the identity of the people of Pesisir Barat,” he added.
At the same event, the Pesisir Barat Education Office presented awards to the four school principals as recognition of their effective leadership in supporting learning, particularly in literacy and numeracy.
The event demonstrated that teachers and school principals in Pesisir Barat are empowered individuals who are capable of leading learning and contributing to the development of the education ecosystem around them.
It is hoped that this collaborative spirit will continue to grow into a sustainable culture of sharing good practices. In this way, innovations and experiences generated by educators can continue to inspire, strengthen networks among schools, and deliver tangible benefits in improving the quality of education for children in Pesisir Barat.
