Seeing the Pekon Banjarmasin Library Supported by KREASI Tanggamus

The Nusantara Library in Pekon Banjarmasin, Bulok Subdistrict, Tanggamus District, is beginning to show its vibrancy as a children’s learning hub and a space for strengthening community literacy, thanks to support from the Program of KREASI. Since mid-October 2025, various activities have been carried out on an ongoing basis to bring the village library to life, involving volunteers, early childhood education (PAUD) teachers, and library managers.

On 16 October 2025, KREASI Tanggamus, in collaboration with the Teacher and Education Personnel Training Center (BGTK) of Lampung Province, held a capacity-strengthening session for volunteers of Pekon Literasi Bulok. The session featured a resource person from BGTK Lampung Province, Ferismayanti, who delivered material on the role of literacy volunteers, strategies to encourage children to love reading, and the management of community-based literacy activities at the village library. This activity became an initial foundation so that the library is not merely a place to store books, but a living space for residents’ learning activities.

Two days later, on 18 October 2025, a symbolic handover ceremony of 127 children’s books was held at the Nusantara Library in Pekon Banjarmasin. The event was attended by the Head of the Village Library and library managers, as well as representatives from KREASI Tanggamus. These children’s books became an important addition to fill the shelves and child-friendly reading corners being developed. Through this support, children in Pekon Banjarmasin are expected to have better access to quality, colourful, age-appropriate reading materials.

This support continued through to the end of the month. On 29 October 2025, the Nusantara Library hosted an interactive Teaching and Learning Activity (KBM) by PAUD Darul Falah. Children took part in learning sessions at the library through various activities such as reading, storytelling, and educational games guided by teachers and volunteers. This activity demonstrates how a village library can function as an extension of the classroom, bringing a more enjoyable learning atmosphere that is close to books.

Through this series of activities—strengthening volunteers, adding to the book collection, and implementing interactive learning sessions—the Nusantara Library in Pekon Banjarmasin has begun to transform into a literacy ecosystem involving schools, village government, and the community. KREASI Tanggamus plays a role as a facilitator to ensure the library does not only come alive during ceremonies, but truly becomes a sustainable, inclusive, and child-friendly learning space for the residents of Pekon Banjarmasin and its surroundings.
